What is Functional Medicine?

What is Integrative Medicine

Integrative physicians are licensed medical doctors who have an integrative approach to healthcare. This involves combining conventional treatments and CAM.

Integrative medicine is meant to be used with traditional medical care. It can also involve a wide range of therapies.

There isn’t a formal degree for becoming an integrative doctor, instead, a person attends medical school, becomes a licensed physician, then receives training or experience in CAM. They can also become board certified in integrative medicine.

I’m a patient of Dr Willis for my Thyroid and it’s no exaggeration to say that if it wasn’t for the tests he recommended and the treatment he has prescribed for my Thyroid I might not still be here.
The NHS will not test for Autoimmune Thyroiditis (Hashimoto’s Disease) and my GP won’t prescribe the T3 that I need. Without this treatment my immune system would continue attacking my Thyroid and destroying my metabolism. The effects of Hashimoto’s are completely debilitating.
I owe my life to Dr Willis’ knowledge and care.
The NHS has diagnosed me with ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia. There is no specific diagnostic test for these conditions but the Hashimoto’s panel of blood tests is conclusive. I may still have ME and Fibro and I’ve only been on the new T3 Meds for a short time so not at full effect yet, but already my mood is lifting - I have hope, my memory and cognitive functions are improving, my stamina and resilience have improved and my face is less puffy - I have cheekbones for the first time in YEARS! � Most of all, I’ve been able to leave the house.

Dr Bernard Willis

Dr Willis qualified in 1967 at Leeds University Medical School and after the required hospital appointments he became a general practitioner.

In 1982 he was recruited to become the senior GP at The Harrow Health Care Centre, the first private primary care centre in England. After a successful period in Harrow, in 1991 he and his wife emigrated to the Costa Blanca Spain to continue their love affair with Spain, where they spent 19 years taking care of British and European ex-patriates who had retired to the area.

During that time Bernard became ill with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome brought on by a viral infection and was forced to take some time off work.

During that absence he researched and cured himself of the condition using natural lifestyle changes, nutrition, hormones and supplements. It was then that he realized that implementing nutritional therapies, meant that he could treat his patients often without pharmaceutical drugs and their inevitable side effects. Over the next 20 years, he attended many courses on integrative and holistic medicine, bio-identical hormone restoration in ageing men and women; and practised these disciplines widely in his clinics in Spain.

His interests include nutrition and dietary therapy, herbal treatments, bio-identical hormone restoration, healthy aging, nutritional therapy for chronic diseases such as CFS, adrenal fatigue, thyroid disorders, male and female menopause and cancer.

He has many years experience of Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy and Testosterone Replacement Therapy and is familiar with restoring female hormones particularly using Bi-Est cream and natural progesterone.

Dr Willis semi-retired from General Practice in 2018, but maintained his license to practice.

In 2017 he was employed for a short period as medical advisor to The Gluck Hormone Clinic in London and on moving to live In Dorset he has been employed as a part-time self-employed Chief Medical Advisor to Alphagenix Limited , a male hormone clinic.

His duties include the education and mentoring of their team of doctors and remote consultations with Alphagenix clients.

He has spare capacity in his workload and is passionate to continue providing a good service to those patients suffering from hormone imbalance and also to pass on his substantial knowledge to interested practitioners.
