Counselling & Psychotherapy
We provide a safe and secure environment where you can talk freely without being judged and you and we can build a trusting relationship.
Here we can discuss confidentially any uncomfortable feelings or issues that you might want to get off your chest, find answers to any difficult or unresolved problems, or deal with any concerns.
You choose what you want to discuss or share during the sessions and we will explore those areas to see if there are any options or choices that might help you make changes in your life.
People seek counselling for many different reasons, here are some examples below:
Low self esteem or self confidence
Separation and Divorce
At the initial appointment you can ask any questions that you may have, and get a feel for how we might work together. It’s also a chance to find out a bit about you, and what has brought you to counselling. This appointment lasts for approximately 30 minutes.
We can work for a short-term (minimum 6 weeks) or on a longer-term basis, that can be open ended depending on what you need. This can be discussed at the initial meeting.
The sessions are on a regular basis once a week, same time, same place and last for 50 minutes.

Our Counsellors here in Blandford cover the week between them.
I qualified as a Psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute and have been working with clients for the past 3 years covering a wide variety of problems.
My approach is ‘integrative’ which means when I work with you I combine and integrate different elements from the main therapeutic traditions, with the relationship between you and myself being the most important.
I also have 9 years experience as a qualified Life Coach, helping many clients make difficult decisions and changes in both their personal and professional lives.
I am a qualified member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and abide by both the UK Council for Psychotherapy's and the Metanoia Institute's Code of Ethics.
I provide one-to-one integrative counselling in here at Hambledon Health in Blandford, Dorset, for a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and low self esteem. I also have specialist training in sexual trauma including historical abuse, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and working with pre-trial clients.
I am a Registered Member of BACP and hold a Therapeutic Counselling Diploma. I currently have an ongoing Open BSc. (Hons) studying various modules of Psychology and Counselling, and I am also working towards BACP Accreditation.
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor, having trained at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling. I provide a warm, caring counselling space where you can explore painful feelings and personal issues within a confidential setting. The focus of counselling depends on what is most important for you. This could be, for example, working through a specific problem or crisis, or helping resolve inner conflict and painful feelings. Counselling may also look at how your past is influencing you today. The emphasis is on helping you find a way through the difficulties you face to discover more freeing, fulfilling ways of being and relating.
I have several years’ experience counselling young adults at The Arts University Bournemouth and have been a counsellor for Cruse Dorset, supporting adults of all ages who have suffered a bereavement loss. My experience spans a broad range of presenting issues including low self-esteem, depression, loneliness, anxiety, panic attacks, self-harm, disordered eating, trauma, abuse, and various types of loss, relationship difficulties and life transitions. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My Integrative approach draws on different strands of therapeutic thinking and practice, deeply valuing the therapeutic relationship as a means of helping clients grow in awareness and understanding of themselves. It also enables me to adapt the way in which I work to meet the needs of each unique person. I work with a holistic awareness of the interconnectedness of emotions, mind, body and spirit, so that symptoms are seen not in isolation but as part of the whole person in the context of their lives, both past and present. I am able to incorporate mindfulness practice and creative forms of expression into the counselling sessions if this is something you would find helpful.
Sometimes it is difficult to take that initial step and ask for the support you need but it is a step that may really make a difference to your life. If you think counselling might be helpful to you and you would like further information please get in touch. At our initial appointment we would look at what brings you to counselling at this time in your life, see how it would be for us to work together and if my way of working could be helpful to you.
